Introducing The Walk
A Round Dorset Walk
The "A Round Dorset Walk" is a 181 mile, long distance footpath around this beautiful county set in central southern England.
The route I suggest is not "The Round Dorset Walk"; it is "A Round Dorset Walk". Whilst staying within the county boundary at all times, the route uses the boundary only as a reference and does not follow it slavishly, as that would mean missing out on some wonderful walking. Nor does it delve into the heartland to explore all that Dorset has to offer, for to do that would turn this walk into one of epic proportions.
The A Round Dorset Walk recognises rights of way, seeks out ridges and high ground, and avoids road walking wherever possible.
We shall not cease from exploration
and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started
and know the place for the first time
